McCann Cattle Co. raises Highland cattle at Springhaven in Brant, Ontario. Our herd combines registered breeding animals from established Canadian Highland lines with calves born here on the farm and Highlands raised for our farm-direct beef program.

The practical side of the herd
Beyond the registered breeding animals shown above, we keep additional Highland cattle that are steers or otherwise do not meet our breeding requirements. They are still raised with the same care — outside on pasture and quality hay — and are very much part of the Springhaven herd.
These animals connect the breeding and husbandry side of the farm directly to the food we produce. When available, whole, half and quarter shares of Highland beef are offered farm-direct.
